1. General

Beginners2Runners is a trading name of Beginners 2 Runners Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Company Number: 16841815).

1.1 Definitions

Throughout these Terms and Conditions:

  • "You" or "Your" refers to the member, participant, or where applicable, the parent or legal guardian of a member under the age of 18.

  • "We", "Us" and "Our" refer to Beginners 2 Runners Ltd, trading as Beginners2Runners.

1.2 Acceptance of these Terms

By purchasing a membership, registering for a course, booking a session or attending any Beginners2Runners activity, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms and Conditions.

These Terms and Conditions apply alongside:

  • any club rules or codes of conduct;

  • venue-specific rules and regulations;

  • event-specific instructions issued by Beginners2Runners; and

  • our Privacy Policy.

If there is any conflict between these Terms and any previous versions or verbal information given, these Terms and Conditions will take precedence.

1.3 Eligibility

You must be 18 years of age or over to enter into a membership agreement or register for a course.

Members under the age of 18 must be registered by a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or over, who accepts these Terms on their behalf and remains responsible for them as outlined within these Terms.

1.4 Our Services

Beginners2Runners provides organised, insured group running sessions, coaching, courses and related services designed to encourage safe, enjoyable and inclusive participation in running and fitness activities.

While we aim to provide a consistent programme of activities, we reserve the right to amend venues, session times, coaches, leaders, routes or services where reasonably necessary.

1.5 Changes to Services

From time to time we may introduce, withdraw or amend memberships, courses, pricing, benefits or other services.

Where changes materially affect existing members, we will provide reasonable notice wherever practicable.

2. Membership & Course Types

Beginners2Runners offers a range of memberships and courses designed to suit different needs.

Unless otherwise stated, all memberships are subject to these Terms and Conditions.

A valid TeamUp account and an active membership, course registration or booked Pay As You Run session are required to attend club sessions.

2.1 All Access Memberships

All Access memberships allow members to attend any eligible Beginners2Runners club session during the active membership period.

Membership benefits include:

  • Attendance at eligible club sessions.

  • Access to the Members Only App (excluding Pay As You Run members).

  • Members-only discounts and offers.

  • Club news and announcements.

  • Additional member benefits, which may change from time to time.

2.2 Members Only App

The Members Only App is available to all All Access members, including:

  • Adult Monthly

  • Adult 6-Month

  • Adult Yearly

  • Child Monthly

  • Junior Monthly

  • Student Monthly

  • Legacy memberships (where applicable)

  • Social Membership

App features may include:

  • Session booking

  • Club news

  • Members-only discounts

  • Fitness workouts

  • Meal plans

  • Challenges

  • Additional content introduced from time to time

Pay As You Run members have limited app access for basic club information only and cannot access members-only content unless otherwise stated.

Participants registered on free Beginners' Courses do not receive Members Only App access.

2.3 Adult Monthly All Access

A recurring monthly membership charged on the anniversary of your joining date.

The first payment covers membership from your joining date.

Cancellation requires 30 days' notice before your next billing date. One final payment will always be due, with membership remaining active until the end of the notice period.

2.4 Adult 6-Month All Access

A recurring six-month membership charged in advance.

Each six-month term is charged at the equivalent of five monthly payments.

Membership automatically renews every six months unless cancelled before the next renewal date.

Eligible for membership freezes and extensions (see Section 3).

2.5 Adult Yearly All Access

A recurring annual membership charged in advance.

Membership covers a continuous 12-month period and automatically renews each year unless cancelled before renewal.

Eligible for membership freezes and extensions (see Section 3).

2.6 Child Monthly All Access (Under 14)

A discounted recurring monthly membership.

Children must remain accompanied by their parent or guardian throughout the session and participate within the same running group unless otherwise agreed by the Club Manager.

Parents and guardians remain fully responsible for the child's supervision, behaviour and welfare at all times.

Proof of age may be requested.

2.7 Junior Monthly All Access (14–17)

A discounted recurring monthly membership.

Juniors may participate independently where considered appropriate by the parent or guardian and agreed by the Club Manager.

A parent or guardian must remain contactable throughout the session.

Parents and guardians remain responsible for the junior member at all times.

Proof of age may be requested.

2.8 Student Monthly All Access

A discounted recurring monthly membership available to full-time students studying a minimum of 12 hours per week (or equivalent).

Suitable proof of eligibility must be supplied before approval and may be requested again during membership.

2.9 Social Membership

Designed for members unable to attend club sessions for an extended period due to injury, illness or other circumstances, or those wishing to retain access to online member benefits.

Social Membership:

  • Is charged at the current published monthly rate.

  • Does not include attendance at club sessions.

  • Retains access to the Members Only App and eligible online benefits.

  • Follows the same monthly payment schedule as Adult Monthly Membership.

Requests must be made by emailing membership@beginners2runners.co.uk.

Activation is subject to approval.

2.10 Pay As You Run (PAYR)

Pay As You Run allows attendance without an ongoing membership commitment.

Members must:

  • Book each session in advance.

  • Pay the applicable session fee before attending.

  • Hold a TeamUp account.

No joining fee or recurring subscription applies.

2.11 Free Beginners' Courses

Beginners2Runners may offer free fixed-term Beginners' Courses, such as our 0–5k Beginners' Course.

Course registration:

  • Allows attendance at the advertised course sessions only.

  • Is not a club membership.

  • Does not include Members Only App access.

  • Includes coaching and a course completion certificate where applicable.

  • Does not include complimentary club clothing unless specifically advertised.

Course registrations automatically end at the conclusion of the advertised course.

Participants wishing to continue attending Beginners2Runners sessions after completing the course must purchase an appropriate membership or use Pay As You Run, where available.

2.12 Legacy Memberships

From time to time Beginners2Runners may retain legacy membership types that are no longer available to new members.

Where applicable, existing members may continue under the published terms of their legacy membership provided eligibility is maintained.

Proof of eligibility may be requested at any time.

3. Membership, Course Registration & Cancellation

3.1 Recurring Memberships

With the exception of Pay As You Run and fixed-term Beginners' Courses, all memberships automatically renew at the end of each billing period until cancelled in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

It is your responsibility to ensure your payment details remain valid and that any cancellation request is submitted within the required timescales.

3.2 Payments

Membership payments are collected using one of the following methods:

  • Direct Debit via GoCardless.

  • Debit or credit card via Stripe.

By purchasing a recurring membership, you authorise Beginners2Runners to collect future payments until your membership ends.

If a payment fails, your membership and booking privileges may be suspended until the outstanding balance has been cleared.

3.3 Cancelling Your Membership

Cancellation requests must be made by either:

Cancellation requests sent by text message, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, social media, Team Leaders, Club Managers or any other method will not be accepted as official notice.

Stopping your Direct Debit or card payment alone does not cancel your membership and may result in outstanding balances being recovered.

3.4 Notice Periods

Adult Monthly All Access, Student Monthly & Social Membership

A minimum of 30 days' notice is required before your next billing date.

One final payment will always be collected, with membership remaining active until the end of the notice period.

Where possible, requests should be submitted at least 10 days before your next payment date to allow sufficient processing time.

Adult 6-Month, Adult Yearly, Child & Junior Memberships

These memberships automatically expire at the end of the current paid term once cancelled.

No additional notice period applies.

To avoid automatic renewal, we recommend submitting cancellation requests at least 5 working days before your next renewal date.

Pay As You Run

No notice period applies.

Simply stop booking sessions.

Free Beginners' Courses

Free Beginners' Course registrations automatically end when the advertised course finishes.

No cancellation is required.

Participants wishing to continue attending Beginners2Runners sessions after the course must purchase an appropriate membership or use Pay As You Run where available.

3.5 Membership Freezes & Extensions

Membership freezes are available for:

  • Adult 6-Month All Access

  • Adult Yearly All Access

  • Eligible legacy memberships

A maximum freeze period of three months within any twelve-month period may be granted, normally for injury, illness or exceptional circumstances.

Approved freezes extend the membership by the same period.

Requests must be made by emailing membership@beginners2runners.co.uk.

Monthly memberships cannot be frozen.

Members unable to attend for an extended period may instead request to transfer to a Social Membership (subject to eligibility and approval).

3.6 Cooling-Off Period

New memberships are covered by the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

You may cancel a new membership within 14 days of purchase by emailing membership@beginners2runners.co.uk.

If you have attended any chargeable club sessions during this period, Beginners2Runners reserves the right to deduct the equivalent Pay As You Run session fee for each session attended before issuing any refund.

3.7 Free Beginners' Courses

As Beginners' Courses are provided free of charge, no payment is taken and no refund is applicable.

Participants may withdraw from the course at any time simply by choosing not to attend further sessions.

3.8 Changing Membership Type

Requests to upgrade, downgrade or change membership should be sent to membership@beginners2runners.co.uk.

Changes are normally processed within 5 working days and, where applicable, will take effect from the next billing cycle.

Membership changes cannot normally be backdated.

4. Session Bookings & Attendance

4.1 Booking Sessions

Unless otherwise advised, all club sessions should be booked in advance through the Beginners2Runners website or Members Only App.

Beginners2Runners reserves the right to amend booking requirements, session capacities or booking procedures at any time.

4.2 Booking Responsibilities

It is the member's responsibility to:

  • Book the correct session before attending.

  • Ensure they are booked under the correct membership or participant profile.

  • Cancel bookings they are unable to attend.

  • Arrive in sufficient time to check in before the session begins.

Members who repeatedly fail to attend booked sessions without cancelling may have future bookings restricted where necessary to ensure fair access for all members.

4.3 Pay As You Run Bookings

Pay As You Run members must purchase each session individually at the published session fee.

Payment must be successfully completed before the booking is confirmed.

4.4 Cancelling a Booking

Bookings may be cancelled before the scheduled start time of the session.

Where applicable, Pay As You Run session fees will be refunded automatically when a booking is cancelled before the session starts.

If a session has already begun, automatic refunds are no longer available.

Members who believe exceptional circumstances apply should contact membership@beginners2runners.co.uk, where refunds will be considered at Beginners2Runners' discretion.

4.5 Attendance

Attendance is recorded by the Club Manager or an authorised Team Leader.

Members should ensure they are checked in at each session.

Failure to check in may affect attendance records and any automated communications relating to your membership or course.

4.6 Late Arrival

Members arriving after a session has started will normally be allowed to join the session where it is safe and practical to do so.

However, the Club Manager, Team Leader or other authorised member of staff may refuse entry if, in their reasonable opinion, allowing the member to join would compromise safety, create an unacceptable disruption to the session, or make it impractical for the member to participate appropriately.

Any decision made for safety or operational reasons will be final.

4.7 Session Changes & Cancellations

Occasionally it may be necessary to cancel, postpone or relocate a session due to circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to:

  • Severe weather.

  • Unsafe running conditions.

  • Club Manager, Team Leader or staff availability.

  • Venue restrictions.

  • Health and safety concerns.

  • Other unforeseen circumstances.

Where possible, reasonable notice will be given using email, the website, social media, the Members Only App or other appropriate communication channels.

Beginners2Runners cannot accept responsibility for any costs incurred as a result of cancelled or amended sessions.

4.8 Free Beginners' Courses

Participants registered on a free Beginners' Course should attend as many sessions as possible to gain the greatest benefit from the programme.

If you are unable to attend a session, please cancel your booking where applicable.

Repeated non-attendance without notice may result in your place being withdrawn where courses are operating with waiting lists.

Beginners2Runners reserves the right to amend course dates, venues or staff where reasonably necessary.

5. Health, Safety & Participation

5.1 Medical Responsibility

By attending any Beginners2Runners session, course or event, you confirm that, to the best of your knowledge, you are medically fit to participate in the activities you undertake.

If you have any medical condition, injury or concern that may affect your ability to participate safely, you should seek appropriate medical advice before attending.

It is your responsibility to inform the Club Manager or another member of staff before the session begins if there is any relevant change to your health that may affect your participation.

5.2 Participation at Your Own Risk

Running and outdoor fitness activities involve inherent risks, including but not limited to trips, falls, collisions, uneven terrain, adverse weather and interactions with road users or members of the public.

While Beginners2Runners takes reasonable steps to provide safe, enjoyable and well-organised sessions, participation is entirely at your own risk.

Nothing within these Terms excludes or limits liability where it cannot legally be excluded under English law.

5.3 Following Instructions

Members and participants are expected to follow all reasonable instructions given by a Club Manager, Team Leader or other authorised member of staff.

Failure to do so may result in participation being refused or ended if considered necessary for the safety or wellbeing of yourself or others.

5.4 Appropriate Clothing & Equipment

Participants are responsible for ensuring they wear suitable clothing and footwear appropriate for the activity and prevailing weather conditions.

Where appropriate, members are encouraged to wear reflective or high-visibility clothing and carry adequate hydration.

Beginners2Runners accepts no responsibility for injury or loss resulting from unsuitable clothing or equipment.

5.5 Respect for Others

All members are expected to behave respectfully towards fellow participants, volunteers, staff, venue users and members of the public.

Bullying, harassment, discrimination, threatening behaviour, abusive language or conduct likely to place others at risk will not be tolerated.

Beginners2Runners reserves the right to refuse or terminate participation or membership where behaviour falls below the standards expected.

5.6 Alcohol & Drugs

Participants must not attend any session while under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs or any medication that significantly impairs their ability to participate safely.

Beginners2Runners reserves the right to refuse participation where this is reasonably believed to be the case.

5.7 Accidents & Incidents

Any accident, injury, illness, safeguarding concern or incident occurring during a Beginners2Runners activity should be reported to the Club Manager or another member of staff as soon as reasonably practicable.

Where appropriate, an incident report may be completed and retained in accordance with our safeguarding and data protection policies.

5.8 Young Members

Parents and guardians remain responsible for children and junior members in accordance with the relevant membership conditions.

Additional safeguarding procedures may apply and must be followed at all times.

5.9 Animals

Dogs and other animals may only accompany participants where expressly permitted by the relevant club or event.

Owners remain fully responsible for the behaviour, safety and welfare of their animal at all times and must ensure it does not create a risk or nuisance to others.

Beginners2Runners reserves the right to refuse participation where an animal is considered unsuitable for the activity or conditions.

6. Member Conduct & Club Rules

6.1 Respect for Others

Beginners2Runners is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.

Members and participants are expected to treat fellow members, Club Managers, Team Leaders, staff, volunteers and members of the public with courtesy and respect at all times.

Bullying, harassment, discrimination, intimidation, threatening behaviour or abusive language will not be tolerated.

6.2 Following Club Rules

Members must comply with:

  • These Terms and Conditions.

  • The Beginners2Runners Code of Conduct.

  • Any reasonable instructions given by staff.

  • Venue-specific rules and requirements.

Failure to do so may result in action being taken under Section 6.7.

6.3 Looking After Yourself & Others

Members are expected to act responsibly and in a manner that helps maintain a safe environment for everyone attending.

Participants should remain aware of their surroundings, follow road safety guidance where applicable, and avoid behaviour that may place themselves or others at unnecessary risk.

Members should notify the Club Manager or another member of staff before the session begins if there is any injury, illness or medical condition that may affect their safe participation

6.4 Personal Belongings

Members are responsible for their own personal belongings at all times.

Items left at club sessions or venues are left entirely at the owner's risk.

Beginners2Runners accepts no responsibility for the loss, theft or damage of personal property.

6.5 Smoking, Vaping & Substance Misuse

Smoking, vaping and the use of illegal substances are not permitted during Beginners2Runners sessions or while representing Beginners2Runners.

Members must not attend any session while impaired by alcohol, illegal drugs or medication that significantly affects their ability to participate safely.

Failure to comply may result in participation being refused or membership being suspended or terminated.

6.6 Photography & Social Media

From time to time, photographs or videos may be taken during club sessions or events for promotional purposes.

Where practical, members will be made aware when photography is taking place.

If you do not wish to appear in photographs or videos, please inform the Club Manager before the session begins, and we will make every reasonable effort to respect your wishes.

By attending Beginners2Runners activities, you acknowledge that it may not always be possible to avoid appearing incidentally in group photographs or background footage taken in public places.

6.7 Safeguarding

Beginners2Runners is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and to providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.

All members, parents, guardians, staff and volunteers share a responsibility for helping to create a safe environment.

If you have a safeguarding concern, please report it to your Club Manager or another member of staff as soon as reasonably practicable.

If you do not feel comfortable raising the concern at your club, or if your concern relates to someone at the club, you may contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead by emailing office@beginners2runners.co.uk.

Where there is an immediate risk of harm, you should contact the emergency services by dialling 999.

All safeguarding concerns will be treated seriously and handled in accordance with our Safeguarding Policy.

6.8 Suspension or Termination of Membership

Beginners2Runners reserves the right to suspend or terminate a membership, course registration or participation without refund where a member:

  • Commits a serious breach of these Terms and Conditions.

  • Behaves in a manner that places themselves or others at risk.

  • Acts in a way that may damage the reputation of Beginners2Runners.

  • Engages in bullying, harassment, discrimination, threatening behaviour or abuse.

  • Repeatedly fails to follow reasonable instructions from staff.

  • Brings Beginners2Runners into disrepute through their actions or behaviour

Where appropriate, the member will be given an opportunity to explain the circumstances before a decision is made.

Decisions made by Beginners2Runners regarding suspension or termination will be final.

6.9 Changes to Club Rules

Beginners2Runners may introduce or amend club rules, operational procedures or guidance from time to time to reflect changes in legislation, safeguarding requirements or the needs of the organisation.

Any significant changes will be communicated to members where appropriate.

7. Liability & Legal

7.1 Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits or excludes any liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded under the laws of England and Wales.

Subject to this, Beginners2Runners shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of enjoyment, loss of earnings or any other financial loss arising from participation in our activities.

7.2 Personal Injury

Participation in running and related activities carries an inherent risk of injury.

Members and participants accept responsibility for participating within their own abilities and agree to exercise reasonable care for their own safety and the safety of others.

Beginners2Runners accepts no responsibility for injury, loss or damage arising from participation except where caused by our negligence or where liability cannot legally be excluded.

7.3 Personal Property

All personal belongings are brought to club sessions and events entirely at the owner's risk.

Beginners2Runners accepts no responsibility for the loss, theft or damage of personal property unless caused by our negligence.

7.4 Third-Party Venues

Many Beginners2Runners sessions take place at venues owned or managed by third parties.

Members are expected to comply with any reasonable rules or requirements imposed by the venue.

Beginners2Runners cannot accept responsibility for matters arising solely from the operation or condition of third-party venues beyond our reasonable control.

7.5 Force Majeure

Beginners2Runners shall not be liable for any delay, cancellation or failure to provide services where this results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Severe weather.

  • Flooding.

  • Fire.

  • Public health emergencies.

  • Government restrictions.

  • Industrial action.

  • Venue closures.

  • Utility failures.

  • Other unforeseen events beyond our reasonable control.

Where reasonably practicable, affected sessions or services will be rearranged or alternative arrangements considered.

7.6 Intellectual Property

All Beginners2Runners branding, logos, course materials, website content, publications and other intellectual property remain the property of Beginners 2 Runners Ltd unless otherwise stated.

They may not be copied, reproduced, distributed or used for commercial purposes without prior written permission.

7.7 Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

8. Privacy & Data Protection

Beginners2Runners is committed to protecting your personal information and processing it in accordance with UK data protection legislation.

Personal information collected during membership, course registration or event participation will only be used for legitimate club administration, safeguarding, communication and service delivery purposes.

Your information will be processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms and Conditions and is available on our website.

By becoming a member, registering for a course or attending a Beginners2Runners activity, you consent to the collection and processing of your information as described within our Privacy Policy.
