1. General

“You” and “Your” means you, the member (or parent/guardian for under-18s). “We”, “us”, and “Our” means Beginners 2 Runners Ltd.

All memberships and course registrations are subject to:

- these Terms and Conditions

- general club/event usage rules

- any venue-specific rules or regulations issued from time to time

By joining, renewing, or registering for a course, you agree to comply with all terms, rules, and regulations. These Terms take precedence over prior versions or oral statements.

You must be 18 or over to enter into a membership or course agreement. Under-18 memberships or registrations must be created and consented to by a parent or guardian aged 18 or over.

2. Membership and Course Types

All recurring memberships (except Pay As You Run) automatically renew and continue until cancelled by you. (see section 3 below). A Team Up account and valid payment or membership status are required to book or attend sessions.

All All Access memberships (and course memberships during their term) allow attendance at any Beginners2Runners Club session. We provide safe, insured, structured running sessions in exchange for fees. It is your responsibility to choose the most suitable type or offer. We do not guarantee the best available rate unless you notify us of changes in eligibility (e.g., student status).

To switch types, email membership@beginners2runners.co.uk with proof if required. Changes take effect after a minimum of 5 working days (processed at the start of your next billing cycle where applicable). No backdating of payments or refunds for missed notifications.

Current types and key details (prices listed on our website; subject to change with 30 days’ notice):

Members Only App Access

All All Access members (Adult, Child, Junior, Student, 6M, and Yearly memberships, including legacy Over 65 where applicable) receive full access to our Members Only App. This includes:

  • Booking into sessions

  • Club News

  • Exclusive member discounts

  • Fitness workouts & meal plans

Pay As You Run (PAYG) members have limited access to the Members Only App (view-only for club news and basic information only; no session booking or access to exclusive discounts, workouts or meal plans).

Course Memberships receive full All Access app benefits for the duration of the active course only. Social Memberships receive full app access (excluding session booking).

Adult Monthly All Access

Recurring monthly billing on the join-date anniversary. The first payment covers the period from the join date. 30 days’ notice is required for cancellation, with one final payment always required.

Adult 6M All Access

Recurring 6-month term. Charged upfront for 6 months at the price of 5 months. Automatically renews for further 6-month periods unless cancelled. Optional freeze/extension available (see Section 3).

Yearly All Access (Adult)

Recurring 12-month term. Charged upfront or on renewal. Covers exactly 12 months from the start or renewal date. Optional freeze/extension available (see Section 3).

Child Monthly All Access (Under 14)

Discounted recurring monthly. The child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times in the same group; the parent or guardian is responsible for supervision, behavior, and escorting if needed. Not all staff are DBS checked—assume they are not. Safeguard your child; no one-to-one contact with staff. Proof of age may be required.

Junior Monthly All Access (14+)

Discounted recurring monthly. The junior may run independently if mature enough, but a parent or guardian must attend the session and remain contactable. Safeguarding rules apply (no one-to-one contact with staff; report any issues). Proof of age may be required.

Full Time Student Monthly All Access

Discounted recurring monthly (minimum 12 hours/60 credits). Proof (e.g., NUS card, student ID, or letter) required via email before approval.

Social Membership (Online Only)

For injured members needing extended rest (cannot attend club sessions for more than 1 month) or those wanting online-only access while keeping membership live. When requested (via email to membership@beginners2runners.co.uk), it follows the same payment schedule as monthly memberships, reducing the payment to £5 per month from the next payment due date. The minimum length before you can cancel is 3 months (three £5 payments billed monthly), with a final £5 payment (total minimum £20). There is no maximum length for this membership option. It will continue to bill at £5 per month until you request cancellation. One final £5 payment will always be required. While not allowing attendance at club sessions, this option keeps your membership active with full access to our online content. Requests should be made at least 10 days before your renewal date for timely processing; activation requires your confirmation. This may only be requested once in a 12-month period (at our discretion; abuse may result in full-rate billing or compensation claims).

Pay As You Run (PAYG)

No recurring commitment or joining fee. Pay per session via Team Up Drop In (cashless only). Book and pay before attending. No notice required.

Beginners Course Memberships (and similar fixed-term courses, e.g., Back 2 Running)

The full course fee must be paid upfront at the time of registration. Once payment is processed, you are registered on the specified course. This provides all the benefits of an Adult All Access Membership for the duration of the course (e.g., 8–10 weeks training plus any bonus weeks). The course expires automatically at the end of the term; no recurring billing unless you switch to another membership type. You will need to switch to an alternative membership to continue using our services after the course finishes. Once the course has begun, there are no refunds for any sessions missed (regardless of reason), and no refunds if you are unable to complete the course for any reason. If purchased after the start date, sessions already taken place will not be refunded or added retrospectively after the course ends.

Legacy Memberships (not available to new members):

Over 65 Monthly All Access— Discounted recurring monthly. Discontinued for new sign-ups after 1 December 2025; available only to existing members with 12+ months continuous membership as of 1 January 2025. Proof of age may be required.

Over 65 Yearly All Access — Discounted recurring 12-month term. Same legacy restrictions as above; optional freeze/extension available (see Section 3).

3. Membership and Course Terms & Cancellation

3.1 Recurring Subscriptions

Except for Pay As You Run and fixed-term course memberships, all memberships are recurring and bill automatically until cancelled. You remain liable for payments up to the effective end date.

3.2 Payments

Via Direct Debit (preferred, via GoCardless) or card (via Stripe for upfront, one-time, or recurring payments). Failed payments may suspend access and incur fees. No refunds except as stated (e.g., 14-day cooling-off).

3.3 Cancellation & Notice

Only notice received by email to membership@beginners2runners.co.uk counts as valid notice. Texts, messages via social media, messages to leaders, managers, team members, or any other channels do not constitute valid cancellation or notice. Non-attendance, verbal notice, or cancelling Direct Debit directly does not cancel membership and may lead to continued billing or debt recovery. Cancel via Team Up (‘My Account’ > Memberships > Cancel) where available, or email membership@beginners2runners.co.uk (we can action manually).

Notice periods:

- Adult Monthly All Access, Student Monthly All Access and Social memberships: 30 days before the next billing date, with one final payment required; access continues until the end of the notice period. For Social, contact via email at least 10 days before the billing cycle for processing; one final £5 payment always due after the minimum period.

- Adult 6M All Access, Yearly All Access, Child Monthly, Junior Monthly: No notice period. If cancelled, membership ends automatically at the expiry of the current paid term (no further renewals or charges).

- Pay As You Run / Course Memberships: No commitment or notice—courses expire naturally; PAYG stops anytime.

3.4 Freezes, Pauses & Extensions

Available for Yearly All Access (including legacy Over 65) and Adult 6M All Access: up to 3 months total per 12-month period (e.g., for injury or medical reasons). Request by email; extends the expiry date accordingly. During this time, online access is kept

For monthly memberships (if injured and unable to attend): you may either cancel with the required 30 days’ notice or request to switch to Social Membership (via email; subject to approval and once-per-12-month limit). No freeze, pause, or extension is available for Social memberships.

3.5 Cooling-off Period

All new memberships and courses have a 14-day cooling-off period under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, starting from the date of registration or booking. Cancel by emailing membership@beginners2runners.co.uk.

For memberships: Full refund if cancelled within 14 days, less the current Pay As You Run (PAYG) session price per attended session (deducted only for sessions attended after any initial free or introductory session). Post-14 days, no refunds except where otherwise specified in these Terms.

For courses: You have the right to a full refund if cancelled within 14 days of registration and the course has not yet commenced. If the course has already started (even if within the 14 days), the cooling-off period no longer applies and no refund is available for any reason. Post-14 days or once the course has begun, no refunds will be issued (including for missed sessions, inability to complete, or late purchases where sessions have already occurred). No per-session deductions apply to course refunds.

3.6 Upgrades/Downgrades & Changes

Email requests processed within 5 working days (effective next cycle where applicable). No backdating.

4. Payment Options & Issues

Methods: Direct Debit via GoCardless (authorise collections) or card via Stripe (PCI DSS compliant; major cards accepted; fees may apply for card recurring).

Failed Payments: Penalty fees apply; reattempts notified; repeated failures may suspend or cancel access.

Suspension/Restoration: Access suspended for failures; restoration may incur fees.

Direct Debit Guarantee

This Guarantee is offered by all banks and building societies that accept instructions to pay Direct Debits.

If there are any changes to the amount, date or frequency of your Direct Debit Beginners 2 Runners Ltd will notify you (normally 10 working days) in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed. If you request Beginners 2 Runners Ltd to collect a payment, confirmation of the amount and date will be given to you at the time of the request.

If an error is made in the payment of your Direct Debit, by Beginners 2 Runners Ltd or your bank or building society, you are entitled to a full and immediate refund of the amount paid from your bank or building society.

If you receive a refund you are not entitled to, you must pay it back when Beginners 2 Runners Ltd asks you to.

You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by simply contacting your bank or building society. Written confirmation may be required. Please also notify us.
