Back to Running
Whether you’re returning to running after a break, building consistency, or you’ve already reached 5K and want support to stay there, this is the right place for you.
You don’t need to consider yourself a complete beginner to benefit. Many of our runners sit somewhere between starting out and running 5K regularly — and that’s exactly where a structured programme makes the biggest difference.
It may be joining our next course is the right move, or we may have a suitable group you can join now. Lets chat and find out!
Restart Your Journey with Team Green!
If you are:
Returning to running after time away
Able to run a little, but not yet consistently
Currently building towards 5K
Already running 5K but struggling to keep it going regularly
…our structured programme is designed to meet you where you are and support you as you progress safely and steadily.
How we help you progress:
Our approach is based on gradual progression, consistency, and confidence-building, supported by our friendly, supportive staff.
We focus on helping you run in a way that feels achievable and sustainable, not overwhelming.
For those working towards 5K, Weeks 4–8 of our Beginners Course provide a particularly effective structure. This stage is designed to:
Build endurance safely and progressively
Help you move from run/walk to continuous running
Develop consistency so 5K becomes sustainable, not a one-off achievement
Support you in maintaining 5K comfortably once you reach it
You don’t need to start at Week 1 to benefit — our friendly, supportive staff will help place you at the right point in the structured programme.
A more flexible approach
We now offer this part of the programme as a supported progression pathway within our main structured programme, so more runners can access the support they need without barriers.
Our focus is simple: helping you reach 5K confidently, comfortably, and consistently — and enjoy the process of getting there.🏃♀️💚

FAQS
Still have questions?
-
No. While the programme is designed to support beginners, it also works really well for anyone returning to running or currently building towards running 5K consistently.
-
That’s exactly the kind of runner we support. Many people join us at this stage. We help you build consistency so 5K becomes comfortable and repeatable, not occasional.
-
Not necessarily. Our friendly, supportive staff will help place you into the most appropriate stage. Many runners start around Weeks 4–8, where the focus is on building consistency and transitioning to continuous running.
-
Try to arrive about 10 minutes before the start time, so you can meet the Club Manager, Members and fellow Beginners. After a group warm up, we start with runs and walks, all at your own pace in a safe, secure environment. We will then cool down together. You'll train with the same format each session while you build up your fitness and confidence.
-
You don't need to rush out and buy any special running shoes or clothes. We recommend comfortable clothes, trainers suitable for exercise, a top to wear before/after the session, and a bottle of water.
-
At B2R we have a saying 'Start as a Team, Finish as a team'. Our Team Leaders are trained to keep the group together at all times. You will never run alone or get left behind. Everyone is rooting for each other, and we always start and finish together.
-
Our course is based on 3 sessions a week. Aim to attend club sessions twice weekly with 1 homework session. If you can only attend once, speak to your Club Manager—we’ll help keep you on track!
-
Although it’s best to join from week 1, you can still join us up to week 3 of the course.
-
We hope you’ll continue with us to keep improving and reach your next goal. After completing the course, to move into our regular member sessions, you’ll need to choose a club membership that suit you. You can find all of our membership options on the memberships page of the website.
-
Many running groups are run entirely by volunteers, which is fantastic for the running community. Our membership fees help us employ local Club Managers, support our volunteer Team Leaders, provide reliable and consistent sessions, and fund initiatives such as beginner programmes. Membership is about more than a weekly run—it's an investment in the wider B2R community and helping more people become active, healthy and connected
-
We’re happy to help you choose the right option and find your perfect club.
